( Story Behind the Name )

This hall is dedicated to Augusto Felici (1851–1946), an accomplished Italian sculptor celebrated for his mastery in marble and bronze.

Trained in Rome and later based in Venice, Felici was invited to the court of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Baroda. His most remarkable creation is the six-foot marble statue of Maharani Chimnabai, carved from a single block of Italian marble in 1896 now displayed at the Maharaja Fatesingh Museum.

Felici’s intricate reliefs and sculptures also adorn the Darbar Hall and entrance of Lukshmi Vilas Palace, beautifully blending European artistry with Indian royal grandeur.
